Call for Papers

 

The Policy Research and Regional Development Bureau of Macao Special Administrative Region will hold an International Conference on  " Cultural Mission for the Development and Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area", We are pleased to invite you to submit your paper.

The Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has endowed Macao a significant mission: “develop into a base for exchange and cooperation where Chinese culture is the mainstream and diverse cultures coexist.”. This means that Macao will have to undertake a very explicit and specific mission that is different from other cities in the Greater Bay Area. On the one hand, this is an affirmation of Macao’s deep-rooted historical and cultural status, and on the other hand, it has placed high expectations for Macao’s upcoming role in the global cultural exchange and integration.

In order to worth the country’s great trust and expectation, to demonstrate the unique humanistic characteristics and charm of Macao’s multicultural coexistence, and to promote the concept of “building a community with a shared future for mankind,”the Government of the Macao Special administrative Region will organize an International Conference on " Cultural Mission for the Development and Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area"  from 11 to 14, August, 2019.

For submitting paper, please fill up the registration form and return to Policy Research and Regional Development Bureau via fax, email or post mail. After the reviewing process, we will send the official invitation letter with details of the Conference to the participants whose topic is accepted.

I. Theme
International Conference on "Cultural Mission for the Development and Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area"


II. Purpose
Culture is the spiritual carrier and civilization identity of every nation and country, which contains and displays specific human values. Since the emergence of human civilization, the coexistence and integration of cultures has enabled different ethnic groups and countries to understand and tolerate each other across the boundaries of time and space, and thus has always been the internal driving force that influences and promotes the progress of world civilization.

The uniqueness of Macao’s history has formed its special cultural ecology and form, and has accumulated a deep-rooted and rich cultural connotation. In Macao, on the one hand, traditional Chinese culture is deeply rooted, and on the other hand, multiculturalism based on Western culture is also widespread. The harmonious coexistence of Chinese and Western cultures has developed a unique human landscape and ecology with distinctive features characterized by being mutually inclusive and reinforcing. All this has made Macao a unique attraction and affinity, and also an example of cultural exchanges between China and the West, and the progress of human civilization.


III. Panel Session Topics
The topics are related to the theme of the conference, including: history, philosophy, religion, politics, law, language, literature and art, which are divided into 5 special topics:

       2.Cultural Mission for the Development and Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
          -- Panel session on politics, law

       3.Cultural Mission for the Development and Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
          -- Panel session on philosophy, religion

       4.Cultural Mission for the Development and Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
          -- Panel session on literature, art

       5.Cultural Mission for the Development and Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
          -- Panel session on society, technology, environment

IV. Agenda
The conference will be held in the form of panel sessions, with a main conference and a few featured forums, which are divided into four parts:
1. Opening ceremony - speeches by leaders and representative scholars
2. Main Conference - keynote speeches to all participants by well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad after the opening ceremony
3. Featured forums- 5 panel sessions after the main forum.
4. Closing ceremony.
The moderators or commentators of each featured forum will be invited to make a concluding speech on the discussions of its featured forum.
Finally, the organizer will make a closing speech.

V. Dates
Dates: 11 to 14 August 2019(Arrival on 11 August; Conference on 12-13 August; Departure on 14 August.)

VI. Working Languages
The languages of the conference will be in Chinese, Portuguese and English. Interpretation services will be available .
